Zamárdi – T-Beach

Now, if there’s one place that’s not pretentious, but is also really cool, it’s the T-Beach in Zamárdi. I first found it when I was fed up with the hustle and bustle around the Sound and was looking for somewhere close to people. I walked in along the beach and there it was: palm trees, sand, bean bags, umbrellas. From a distance, I could feel the energy was different here.

T-Beach is like a chill zone in the middle of Lake Balaton. You settle down in a hammock, your feet in the sand, a cold cocktail or spritzer in your hand, and you realize you’ve started to turn off your phone. It’s not a spinning place, more of a natural ‘slow down’ experience. There’s some deep house or downtempo music playing in the afternoon, enough to get you in the rhythm, but it won’t take away from your evening – you decide.

The water is shallower here, but you can walk in for a long time. Ideal for sitting on a little jetty, or if you just want to go waist deep at the end of the day. Sunsets are spectacular here too – the light filtering through the trees on the shore turns the sand golden yellow. Every night is a little different, but you always get the feeling that this is a good time. Very good.

Révfülöp is the kind of place that can be loved in silence. It doesn’t advertise itself, it doesn’t push itself on billboards, but once you find it, you don’t want to leave. For me, one of my best summer afternoons was spent here – sitting on an endlessly long pier
